According to Feeding America, “1 in 6 children do not know where their next meal is coming from.” At ShopCore, we believe it is unacceptable for any child to go hungry. Through our Bracket Battle Fundraiser, our largest fundraising activity for the year, we are attempting to be part of the solution by pushing our efforts toward fighting hunger across America.
In March, ShopCore hosted its second annual Bracket Battle Fundraiser. This year, the goal was to raise $50,000 for the San Diego Food Bank’s “Backpack 4 Kids” program. This ultimately would provide 250 children with weekend backpacks full of food for an entire school year.
Through hundreds of generous donors, including industry peers, ShopCore employees, friends and family, our goal was doubled. With the $100,000 donation, the San Diego Food Bank will be able to support 10 schools’ Backpack 4 Kids programs for the entire 2019-2020 school year and 500 children will have plenty of food to eat every weekend.
