CoreGiving Announces First Annual CoreGiving Day to be Held on September 23, 2021

Expects to Provide More than 8,000 Volunteer Hours to Food Banks Across the Country

NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 20, 2021 – Today, CoreGiving announced that it will hold its first annual CoreGiving Day on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Blackstone and 11 of its real estate portfolio companies will join food banks at locations across the country to provide meals to those in need. CoreGiving was launched in 2016 and has donated more than 10,000,000 meals in an effort to fight child hunger.

“Food insecurity is one of the most pressing challenges we face today—one out of every six children in the U.S. is going hungry,” said Luke Petherbridge, Chairman and co-founder of CoreGiving and Chief Executive Officer of Link Logistics. “COVID-19 has only increased this critical need, making it more important than ever that we come together in the fight to reduce hunger.”

CoreGiving Day connects employees to local foodbank partners. Roughly 1,100 volunteers will be participating at more than 20 locations across the country. In addition to the day of volunteering, CoreGiving will be presenting donations to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, the Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando, the Food Bank for NYC, the Share Food Bank in Philadelphia and the San Diego Food Bank.

“Our mission is to ensure children have access to the food they need for a better, healthier tomorrow,” Petherbridge said. “I am thrilled to introduce our first ever CoreGiving Day—a dedicated day of service that allows our companies to give back to the communities in which they operate. Our organization has raised funds from more than 540 donors to help families in need, and we already reached our goal for this year of providing 7.5 million meals.”

In 2020, CoreGiving contributed to 27 food banks throughout the U.S. and partnered with more than 400 donors, providing 4.1 million meals to hungry children in 15 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
